Live Recording Services for

Emerging Talent

CA3 Production Services started

on location recording’ in 2016.

My name is Steve Brookfield and I have worked in the live and studio recorded audio industry since 1997. I have toured internationally on live music productions as an audio engineer as well as production managing events. My studio work has included recording, mixing and producing music albums.

For over 25 years I have worked across many different musical genres as a musician and audio engineer but have always had a personal passion for classical music. I have been fortunate to work on classical live production events with broadcasters such as BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3 and Sky Arts over these years.

In 2016 my main aim that I set out to achieve was to bring high-fidelity audio recording equipment to record emerging artists and to enable them to showcase their work with a rich transparent sound. This is something I’ve wanted to do for many years, but was never quite sure as to how much demand there was for such a service.

Social media has become a very important marketing tool in recent years for music institutions, concert venues and artists. I originally set out offering an audio only service but it became apparent almost immediately that audio & video is what clients really wanted and to a high professional standard too.

CA3 Production Services operates as a single person operation, offering multi-camera videos with high-fidelity audio recordings.

Capturing high quality audio recordings of classical concerts can be done in many ways using various industry microphone techniques.

Right from the beginning I chose a matched pair of DPA 4006A omni directional microphones along with Prism Sound Atlas analogue to digital converters for recording classical music.

I love this recording combination as it is truly invisible to the ear and really brings the concert hall atmosphere or small recital room to your home or headphones, its incredibly immersive and feels like you’re sat in the audience.

I provide multi camera videos of up to seven cameras, six locked off and the seventh operated by myself during the concert. The service I offer is ideally suited to classical solo artists, duo’s, trio’s and small chamber ensembles.

CA3 Production Services was born from my time working on large productions for major broadcasters with big budgets, I wanted to be able to provide that service at a grass roots level that was affordable to concert promoters and emerging talent.

Over the past seven years I have developed techniques and technical modifications to equipment that enables me to work as a solo operator. I have been very fortunate to collaborate with wonderful organisations doing regular concert series whilst building relationships with artists and providing them with submission videos and recordings.
